Among other things, the topic was raised about Core Web Vitals, i.e. Google’s new ranking factors that will be introduced in May/June. Google will add 3 new ranking factors to the previously known factors. To clarify the concepts of what they are, we have compiled a short list on the subject.

From what you can see, this will have a minor effect on website rankings and is not crucial, but as we know – fast and user-friendly pages convert better and are therefore more profitable.

An important factor is that Google lives in a mobile-first world, mobile traffic is higher than ever, so it’s important that the mobile-friendly version of your website meets the requirements.

Currently, there are 7 factors that Google takes into account when evaluating a site.
4 of them have been around for a while but are still important:

1. Mobile-friendliness
– e.g. that the page is responsive and does not have a different URL than the mobile version (e.g. m.dindomän.se) or that the versions of the mobile and desktop versions do not differ. Google primarily indexes the mobile version and it should contain the same information as the desktop version.

2. secure content – being sure that the site is not hacked or has security issues.
– with our WM Security Package, you can easily let us keep track of any security risks.

3. SSL Certificate
– that there is an SSL certificate installed, you can see this when the URL starts with https://

4. Intrusive pop-ups
– that there are no intrusive pop-ups for e.g. discount codes or newsletters that disturb the user experience. However, pop-ups for cookies are approved.

The 3 new ranking factors are more technology-oriented but also build on the importance of a good user experience:

5.
– LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) – The time it takes to render a page’s most important content. A short load time indicates a good user experience.

6. Interactivity
– FID (First Input Delay) – The time it takes from when a user interacts with a page until the browser responds to it. E.g. click on a button.

7. Visual stability of the page
– CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) – The factor that measures the amount of unexpected changes in the layout of a page. Slow pages that change layout and cause misclicks are examples of a poor user experience.

Do you want help to see if your website is up to speed with Google’s new update?

Get in touch and we’ll tell you more
eva@coreit.se
070-639 51 59

During this year’s “Web Days” we got a dose of the latest news in the industry.
