IT recycling
Secure management of decommissioned IT equipment
Circular management of IT in practice
Managing used IT equipment is a challenge in many organizations today. The equipment often contains sensitive information and therefore needs to be handled in a secure and controlled manner when it is decommissioned. At the same time, there is an economic and environmental value in equipment that still works.
We help you manage decommissioned IT equipment for reuse, resale and recycling. This involves permanently erasing data from all storage media using certified software and documenting each device in a detailed report.
When functioning equipment can be reused, the lifetime of products is extended. This reduces the need for new production and contributes to a more sustainable use of resources.
Why choose CoreIT for IT recycling?
Secure data erasure
All information-carrying equipment is erased with certified software or mechanically destroyed when erasure is not possible.
Full traceability
Each unit is registered and documented throughout the handling process.
Reuse and environmental benefits
Functioning equipment can be resold and put to a new use.
Economic value of the equipment
Used IT equipment can still have a value that is recovered through reuse.
Documentation and certificates
After the processing, reports and deletion certificates are delivered confirming the process.
A solution tailored to your business
IT recycling needs differ between organizations. Some organizations have high information security requirements, others need clear traceability or want to work more actively on sustainable IT management.
We help you create an IT recycling model that fits your business requirements, security level and way of working. The focus is on secure information management, equipment lifecycle control and sustainable resource management.
We take responsibility from reception to recycling
We take responsibility for the entire process when IT equipment is decommissioned. From registration and security deletion to classification, reuse or recycling. You get a clear and documented process where both information and equipment are handled in a controlled way.
Our work process
Registration – When equipment arrives, each unit’s serial number and any additional information, such as asset ID, is recorded.
Secure erasure – Information-bearing storage media are erased using certified software. Equipment that cannot be erased is mechanically destroyed.
Inspection and classification – Equipment is visually and functionally checked before being classified according to a quality rating.
Report and certificate – Upon completion, a report of the equipment and a deletion certificate are delivered.
Registration – Traceable management of each device
When equipment arrives, the serial number of each unit is recorded in the system. If necessary, additional information can be recorded, such as asset ID or other internal marking. The registration creates traceability throughout the handling process and gives the organization control over which equipment has been handled. The documented handling also makes it possible to follow up the equipment’s path through the recycling process.
Security deletion – Permanent deletion of stored information
All equipment is de-identified from previous owners before further handling. Information-bearing storage media are erased using certified secure data erasure software. Storage media that cannot be erased are mechanically destroyed in a shredder. The equipment is then visually and functionally checked before being classified according to a quality rating.
Report and certificate – Documentation of the whole process
Upon completion of the treatment, a complete report of the equipment that has been treated is delivered. The report includes information on the specification, classification and financial breakdown of the devices. The organization also receives a separate erasure certificate confirming that the storage media has been erased according to established security standards. The documentation creates transparency and facilitates follow-up.
Environment – Responsible recycling of electronics
Equipment that fails the functional test is sorted and recycled according to established environmental processes. The material is handled in a way that enables recycling of components and raw materials. Handling is done according to certified quality, environmental and information security standards. Recycling helps to reduce environmental impact and ensure responsible management of electronics and batteries.
Savings – Economic value of decommissioned equipment
Used IT equipment can still have an economic value after it is decommissioned. The equipment is assessed according to a quality classification from A to E depending on its condition and function. The classification forms the basis for valuation and possible resale. This allows the value of the equipment to be exploited while reducing the cost of replacement.
Reuse – giving equipment a new life
Functioning equipment can be resold and continue to be used in other activities. Sales are only made to contracted counterparts who have undergone a certification program. All resold equipment is traceable and handled through verified partners. Exports are not made to countries at risk of e-waste management or to countries subject to trade restrictions.
